Welcome to Xavier's Legacy.

Named in honour of Xavier James Edward Aguirre, who passed away on 16th July 2020 shortly after being diagnosed with AL Amyloidosis. Our mission is to raise money to fund ongoing research into the causes of this disease, as well as to raise awareness both clinically and publicly.

As with many diseases, though incurable, Amyloidosis is treatable if caught early. In sum, early intervention can be a life-saver.

Stop it.

Survive it.

See it.

Xavier's Legacy is a non-profit organisation which is sustained by your generosity year on year. Donations of any value are welcome.

Since 2021, we have organised a > 500 km bike ride in different countries across the world, cycling a rolling total of over 2,000 km, and raising nearly £35,000.00 GBP in research funding, including the creation of the "Xavier James Edward Aguirre Memorial Bursary for Amyloidosis Awareness". This $1,500.00 CAD bursary for the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) nursing program was made in collaboration with the Royal Canadian Legion South Burnaby Branch #83.

This years journey will entail cycling from St. David's in Wales and riding North up the coast to make our way back to the Warhammer World Factory in Nottingham for the second time in 5 years. We have dubbed this year's ride "Wales2Warhammer: Xavier's Fifth Journey."
